Promoting a culture of peaceful coexistence:The International Day of Peace (World Peace Day)

The International Day of Peace (World Peace Day) is observed around the world each year on the 21st of September. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day is dedicated to fortifying the principles of peace, both within and among all member states and peoples. This year’s celebrations are significant because it is the 20th anniversary of the UN Resolution on the actions to contribute to building the culture of peace.

Climate Action for Peace is the theme for this year 2019. It is believed that the Sustainable Development Goal 13: climate change has become a clear threat to international peace and security.

In line with the main theme, WWB adopted a sub theme: Youths’ Action for Peace and Security.

To Commemorate the international Day of Peace, Women Without Borders in Partnership with the Buea Peace Club Cameroon sensitized and educated the youthful population of a Government school on the importance of Keeping our community green, methods of preventing climate change by avoiding waste disposals, ensuring a clean and pollution-free environment, catering for our crops and farm produce to inhibit food insecurity and also the importance of recycling.

Together, we will combat climate change for sustainable development and peace
